Buildings We Love: Nix Nature Center

Posted on by Lauren Moss

As the days are getting shorter and fall is quickly approaching, it’s the perfect time of year to take advantage of the pleasant weather and head outside to enjoy the natural environment, learn more about our local resources, and, of course, explore one of Orange County’s several great (and green) nature centers, the Nix Center in the heart of the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park.

Completed in 2006, the James and Rosemary Nix Nature Center was designed by Roesling Nakamura Architects, and serves as a testament to the environmentally-oriented community values and a rich artistic history. With indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces, as well as resources regarding local hiking trails and park information, it’s a great destination to appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings, in the context of a uniquely contemporary and sustainable building.
