Read MoreOccurring on the third Friday of September, PARK(ing) Day is an annual event that began with a single parking space in 2005 in San Francisco. Since then, the event has grown as a platform for creative 'guerilla landscaping', as well as a venue for illustrating the need for public green space, civic participation, and thoughtful community development.
A great collaborative stop motion sculpture was recently animated in Melbourne's Federation Square. Created over a two-week period, the work consists of a moving sculpture of dynamic triangles, juxtaposed alongside the time-lapse of people interacting with the piece and moving through the public space.
In spite of our short time there, we had the opportunity to visit one of the greatest farmers markets in the country, and that alone was enough reason to plan a trip back to Portland.
