MYD Construction Update

Construction for Phase II of MYD's modern renovation in Mission Viejo kicks off this week...

While the majority of the work focuses on the reconfigured and updated kitchen, the scope of the project also includes a new guest bath, redesigned stair and open, light-filled living and dining spaces.

Project Preview: Laguna Niguel Modern

Last month, an 'On the Boards' post highlighted a few current projects in various stages, from schematic design to construction. This week, we're taking a closer look at a nearby residential project, now in design development.

A renovation to a mid-century residence in Laguna Niguel, the existing home was designed by architect George Arthur Bissell and built in the mid-60's; our redesign will update the home while preserving the modernist aesthetic.

Eames House: MYD's photo gallery

A couple weeks ago, we shared a sneak peek of a recent trip to the Eames House, also known as Case Study House #8. We stopped to look at the Pacific Standard Time exhibit, Indoor Ecologies: The Evolution of the Eames House Living Room and, of course, to visit one of the most well-known homes in the discussion of mid-century modernism.

'EAMES WORDS' at A+D

We recently visited the A+D Architecture and Design Museum in Los Angeles to view the exhibit EAMES WORDS, part of the Pacific Standard Time initiative celebrating Southern California art. Only one of the several galleries highlighting the work of Charles and Ray Eames, this show examines the relationships between well-known words and quotations of the husband and wife team and the everyday objects that inspired and informed their practice, philosophy and approach to design.
