From the Studio / Project Progress Update

For this residential addition and renovation in nearby Laguna Beach, our design transforms an existing ranch home into a contemporary custom residence that celebrates the stunning panoramic views that characterize the unique location, while minimizing development impact at the hillside site.

rear perspective / view toward pool

A rear facade of glazing is articulated with warm ipe wood and punctuated by a sun-moderating trellis that stretches the extents of the canyon-facing elevation. At the floor plane, an infinity pool and water feature perch gently upon the slope, providing a beautiful, contemplative reflection of the ocean views beyond.

At the street-facing front elevation, our redesign updates the single-level home with a material palette of smooth stucco, wood siding, and stone, with new architectural massing incorporating a flat roof that allows for increased ceiling height at the interior.
