<p>This is a look at that early stages for a new MYD project; here, we're looking at the massing, roof slope and potential material options.&nbsp; These sketches led to what became the elevation design below, which will continue to evolve throughout design development.</p>

<p>As we move forward, we'll ultimately be working on the set of submittal drawings for the building department, which will look a little more like the image below.</p>

With a few projects under construction, we've been spending a significant amount of time on site lately.</p>
<p>For this multi-phase remodel in South Orange County, we've started work in the <a title="Renovate! MYD studio project preview" href="http://www.mydstudio.com/blog/renovate-project-preview.html" target="_blank">master bathroom</a>, demolished and gutted a few weeks ago, with a new six-inch platform framed out along the length of the side wall in order to accommodate a floating tub and shower.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Already, the space has undergone quite a transformation with new floor and wall tile, custom cabinetry and a marble slab counter, not to mention new fixtures, custom cabinetry and lighting... It's definitely come a long way, considering the state it was in just a couple of weeks ago, seen below.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span class="thumbnail-image-block ssNonEditable"><a href="javascript:showFullImage('/display/ShowImage?imageUrl=%2Fstorage%2Fpost-images%2FOC-remodel-master-bath-Construction-MYDstudio-600x335.jpg%3F__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION%3D1336786233170',335,600);"><img src="http://www.mydstudio.com/storage/thumbnails/4366865-18158583-thumbnail.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1336786233171" alt="" /></a></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">There's still a bit of work to be done before the space is <a title="MYD remodel | master bath renderings" href="http://www.mydstudio.com/blog/renovate-project-preview.html">complete</a>, so more updates will be coming soon, along with construction images and project details.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><span class="thumbnail-image-block ssNonEditable"><span><a href="javascript:showFullImage('/display/ShowImage?imageUrl=%2Fstorage%2Fpost-images%2Fraumplus-door-system-laguna-beach-600x450.jpg%3F__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION%3D1334692212131',450,600);"><img src="http://www.mydstudio.com/storage/thumbnails/4366865-17723820-thumbnail.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1334692212133" alt="" /></a></span></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This system, by <a title="Raumplususa.com link" href="http://www.raumplusna.com" target="_blank">Raumplus</a>, consists of three aluminum-framed glass panels on a three track system, so that each panel can move across the length of the track. This allows for a variety of spatial configurations, depending on how much enclosure is desired, and allows users to determine the point of entry, or access into the space, for more flexibility in terms of furnishing.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span class="thumbnail-image-block ssNonEditable"><span><a href="javascript:showFullImage('/display/ShowImage?imageUrl=%2Fstorage%2Fpost-images%2FSanta-Rosa-doors-detail-images-600x375.jpg%3F__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION%3D1334692436055',375,600);"><img src="http://www.mydstudio.com/storage/thumbnails/4366865-17723876-thumbnail.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1334692436056" alt="" /></a></span></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">It runs along the top and bottom tracks incredibly smoothly, and the flush track makes for a more seamless appearance. For a smaller home, this type of room divider is not only functional, but serves as an interesting design element- the glass adds a bit of reflectivity to the space, a nice counter to the wood trim at the windows and doors and the timber mantel.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span class="thumbnail-image-block ssNonEditable"><span><a href="javascript:showFullImage('/display/ShowImage?imageUrl=%2Fstorage%2Fpost-images%2Fraumplus-door-system-view-from-office-600x450.jpg%3F__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION%3D1334692734748',450,600);"><img src="http://www.mydstudio.com/storage/thumbnails/4366865-17723967-thumbnail.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1334692734750" alt="" /></a></span></span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Entries include green roof projects that epitomize a strong relationship to the environment and are 'worthy of being an example of forward-thinking sustainable design'.&nbsp; We feel the Energy Lab aptly fits this description, and would love to bring some well-deserved attention to the value of green building and environmental education that this project represents.</p>
